Drinking an @oxbowbrewingcompany Farmhouse Pale Ale on this rainy day 🌧 What about you!?
🚨🚨 SWIPE THROUGH 🚨🚨
This @uproxx article came out recently, listing beer influencers that the writer believed brought value to his feed. I received messages here & emails at work to congratulate me on the write up. I thanked all the positive people, but I laughed & responded to the very first email with, “Let the haters roll in.” Working within the beer/beverage industry for nearly a decade, I’ve experienced more than my fair share of sexism/misogyny, as well as internalized sexism from women. .
Originally, I wasn’t going to post about this lame @brewbound podcast reaction to the article. As usual, haters looking for something to hate & trolls looking to get more IG followers by trolling those with bigger followings. No sweat off my back. .
Now, this Brewbound podcast discredits several women that I know personally and other women who work within the industry. The thing that irks me most about this blatantly sexist podcast episode (which ironically was supposed to be about diversity) is WHY Brewbound says these women should be discredited. Because we wear “tight clothing, bathing suits or low cut clothing”. .
Does my fitted shirt discredit the 9 years I’ve spent in the beer industry? Does @isbeeracarb ‘s bikini erase all her brewing knowledge? Is @la_petite_biere too sexy to enjoy beer? Not only is this idiotic, but it’s DANGEROUS thinking. To tell a woman that the way she dresses decides her value/how you can treat her is not only sexist, it’s GASLIGHTING & it’s ABUSIVE. That kind of mentality is the same mentality behind “That woman deserved to be raped because her jeans were too tight.” How do these men treat women within the industry? It’s people like this that make the mistreatment of women within the beer industry “okay.” THAT is why I’m posting this. I’m disappointed in Brewbound for publishing this harmful speech against women. As for your “diversity episode,” I’m glad to know that you care about diversity.. except when it includes females. .
Thank you to all these women who are truly making craft beer a diverse & inclusive community, even when you get so much crap for it. Thank you to the men who stand beside us against sexist pricks. 🍻❤️
Gotta represent the Garden State, Dirty Jerz with this @kanebrewing Head High. Reminds me of my youth 🖤
Tiki Disco wouldn’t be complete without a @donpaparum cocktail! Drinking the Pinay-Tai, from the mind of @benrojo 🍹 Made with pineapple, orange, lemon & almond. What’s your favorite rum cocktail!?
